Maptote | Environmental Friendly | Reusable Tote and more...| Made in the U.S.A

Hello all!! Kapok knows we are sometimes hard to be discovered at the little hidden yard... and so what we gonna do for our friends, is the launch of Maptote :)

We are going to be the first to launch Maptote in Hong Kong with our own design, and we would love to have YOUR idea, on what could be featured on the tote.  What are the icons which best represent Hong Kong/ Kapok?
mmm... how about the portrait of our dearest Arnault? hehe..

Winter is upon us - time for some Grizzly boots

BootsFreemans

Now that winter is finally upon us, I finally cracked and got myself a pair of the Quoddy Trail Grizzly Boots. We got them in store this Summer, and it was juts a bit too early. Now that the temperature is dropping, they will become my shoe of choice (it's not yet cold enough to hunt for Grizzly bears, but it will be OK).

While looking for a nice picture of these boots to share with you, I discovered that The Sartorialist is also infatuated with what he calls "the lovechild of a moccasin and a pair of Air Jordans". I have to say that the leather is so soft that these boots are insanely comfortable!

Happy Faces - Happy Socks!

RIMG3550

"Happy Socks are Sweden's latest contribution to the fashion world... in angst-ridden times like these, a little flash of color can go a long way!"

Strong trend fully grown early adopters and followers, just reaching the big crowd to wear fashion, colourful and personal socks. Same trend and maturity appeared in Stockholm, New York and Paris.
All channels are screaming for fashion socks! And here we go for Happy Socks!

Happy Socks is a Swedish brand who sold the first pair of socks on 20th August, 2008. The socks are manufactured in Turkey, at a family company that has been in the business for more than 30 years. As they make socks for both the Belgian and Turkish army, we‘re pretty sure that they know how to make socks that last!

The socks are made of 80% combed cotton, 17% Polyamide and 3% elastane. Perfectly smooth seam, making your socks fit like gloves!

Kapok is very happy to present Happy Socks! They are now installed and giving everyone who come to the shop a happy face!

Cassius Eyewear - Attitude from 60s

Cassius Eyewear was unveiled worldwide in the antipodean summer of 2008 by Jason Ng, who lives in Australia.

Embodying a sense of nonconformity, and reviving a style and class of eyewear long forgottened by the major fashion houses, Cassius Eyewear makes a unique departure from the proliferation of generic branded eyewear on the market. Founder and creative director, Jason Ng, references the look and attitude of the 1960s and 70s but for new generation of modern consumer, filling a niche for the avid vintage collections and eyewear connoisseurs who want individuality, classic styling and quality.

Created as an alternative to luxury-branded eyewear, Cassius Eyewear places systems of harmony and proportion at the centre of its design philosophy. This together with the ideology that a logo should be intentionally subtle and that the shape oand design of the frames themselves should define the look and feel, Cassius Eyewear explicitly evokes 20th century systems for scale of architectural proportion and the innovation commonly associated with Walter Gropius and the Bauhaus movement. Cassius Eyewear applies the sharp and clean lines, beautiful solid monochrome colors and classic silhouettes to a range that is individual and editorial, yet subtle and wearable.

#WR001 WRIGHT

With all the frames handcrafted from premium-acetate and fitted with CR39 protected lenses bearing a rating of UV400, Cassius Eyewear is not only of the highest quality but extensive in attention to detail and functionality.

Kapok is now carrying exclusively the Cassius Eyewear and has added the latest 2010 Collection (Selected items)

Bleu de Paname AW09 - Rungis

Biglogo
"- Mature throughout the year 2008, the project stands for a vision of French lifestyle. Putting forward a knowledge embodied in our heritage, but also a genuine desire to show a well-made and good product. Following a hybrid logic of creation, it is a textile range mixing functional and aesthetic: the revisiting of the work uniform with a contemporary vision. Developed and manufactured in France. "

Parisian brand Bleu de Paname release their Winter Collection, “Rungis”, for 2009. Inspired by the Halles de Paris, which was a huge market in the center of Paris, the relatively new brand manufacture all of their apparel in France, and continue to stay faithful to both French cuts and styles. This latest collection once again makes extensive use of navy blue with white detailing and is designed to be functional, comfortable and stylish.

78% - Back to Old School

Shai2

About

78% is a young and vibrant brand inspired by street art and culture, music, Japanese design, Mediterranean temperament and the way "ordinary" people improvise to find practical solutions to everyday problems. 78% is here for the urban professionals with strong sense of individualism and a taste for enduring style and quality. Functionality, Quality and Individuality is what the brand aims for.

"78%" is originally a design manifest which was developed by Elad Klein, a talented artist, musician and designer who died young in an accident. In short - the manifest suggests that products should be designed with an international flaw that would affect the way users interact with them. "78%" is therefore named in memory of Elad, by bag designer, Shai Levy.

The Force behind 78%

Designer Shai Levy, was born in Israel. He studied product design in Jerusalem and Berlin before he started up a studio, specialized in designing technical backpacks for all sorts of outdoor activities.

"It seemed to me that not enough thought is being put into making bags for people who walk on concrete and breathe carbon-dioxide. We deserve more..."
And that makes Shai move from outdoor packs to urban bags for the professionals.

Matthew started his career in the Executive Training Program at Saks Fifth Avenue following university in 1991. After two years there, Matthew worked for three years as a cosmetic buyer at the privately owned Barneys New York. For the next five years, Matthew oversaw global distribution and sales development for the family operated Kiehl's. After Kiehl's sale to L'Oreal, Matthew accepted a position with Prada to develop and manage the Helmut Lang Parfums Division and licensing agreement with P&G. Two years later, Matthew and Andrew began developing a business plan for (Malin + Goetz).

For ten years preceding the launch of (MALIN+GOETZ), Andrew worked as Marketing Director for family owned Vitra, a Swiss-based design manufacturer. Andrew's responsibilities included finding and cultivating the architects and industrial designers whose careers Vitra is known to begin. Both the New York flagship (MALIN+GOETZ) architect and graphic team behind our packaging were organic extensions of previous collaborations and relationships. Utilizing his creative expertise for (MALIN+GOETZ), Andrew has also established himself as chef for a monthly dinner party that March 2006 Food & Wine Magazine call one of Manhattan's "best."

malin+goetz

Started in 2004, business and life partners Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz wanted to combine experiences in cosmetics and design to create products that were universal and efficient. The line is simple and basic, not only in packaging but in theory as well. All products are perfected in their on-site botany lab using natural fatty acids and without the use of synthetic detergents. The natural fatty acids are hydrating yet gentle, and alcohols are non-drying, which they believe is the right balance for all skin types. The idea is: people are stressed and busy, they don’t have time to hassle with thirty bottles of goo, but they still need quality. This is what makes MALIN+GOETZ’s minimalist take on beauty products superior.

Kapok is proud to present the new items from MALIN+GOETZ,with the wider range of product selection to meet the needs of everyone.

Patrik Ervell - Minimalist Staples for Downtown Types

N53284668077_1369277_1462146

About

Patrik Ervell is a designer brand was founded in New York, 2005.
The Swedish-born Ervell got a political science degree from UC Berkeley and fell into design after working as an editor at V magazine. His aesthetic is minimal, and involves creative use of utilitarian materials—think parachute fabric and solar-blanket fibers. In 2007, the year of his first runway show, Ervell won a $25,000 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award.

Design

Ervell's designs focus on minimal, carefully tailored American sportswear, with luxurious touches.
Futurism and technology is a prevailing theme; the label is known for its use of technical fabrics and utilitarian materials like gold emergency blankets or silicon-coated parachute fabric. It is also well-known for its three dimensional structural cutting, which create a long and slim visual on human figure.
Spring 2009 saw Ervell's designs go in a less restricted direction, with more playful silhouettes and prints and less pragmatic adornments.

Selected items from A/W 09 collection is now available at Kapok!
